General
What is Cove?
Cove is a free Android VPN built around WireGuard. We give every device 500 MB or 60 minutes of full-speed traffic per day for free, with rewarded video ads as the way to top up.
The app is published by VeloxSoft on Google Play under the package com.covevpn.
Which platforms do you support?
Android 7.0 (API 24) and newer. We don't currently ship iOS, desktop or router builds. The Android client is our entire focus — we'd rather ship one great app than four mediocre ones.
Which countries can I connect to?
Eight: Singapore, India, the UAE, Germany, and Brazil are free-tier nodes; Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States are streaming-grade nodes (residential exit IPs) that the Premium Pass unlocks. The full list is enumerated in the privacy policy.
How do I install it?
Open Google Play, search "Cove VPN" or follow this link: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.covevpn. Install, open, tap Connect. The first connect prompts the standard Android VPN consent dialog — that's required by the OS.
Free tier & rewarded ads
What does the free tier actually include?
Free Basic: 500 MB or 60 minutes per day, whichever comes first. Throttled to ~5 Mbps. Access to the free-tier nodes (Singapore, India, the UAE, Germany, Brazil). Quota resets at midnight UTC.
For most people that's enough for a couple of hours of browsing + an episode at low-bitrate. If you need more, you have two options without paying.
How do the rewarded ads work?
Two unlock currencies:
- Boost — watch one rewarded video, get +30 minutes of full-speed traffic on free nodes.
- Premium Pass — watch three rewarded videos, unlock 24 hours of unmetered traffic on streaming-grade nodes (residential exit IPs that unblock Netflix, Disney+ and HBO).
Ads are 15-30 seconds. You can choose when to watch them — Cove never auto-plays an ad to keep your tunnel open.
Can I avoid ads while still using the free tier?
Yes. Just stay within the 500 MB / 60 min daily cap. You'll never be forced to watch an ad — the ad is only the route to extra quota.
The rewarded ad isn't crediting my quota. What now?
This is almost always a network glitch on the ad-network postback. Try in this order:
- Wait 60 seconds and pull-to-refresh on the Home screen.
- Make sure you finished the ad — closing it early skips the reward callback.
- If the issue persists, email support@covevpn.com with your device ID (Settings → About → Device ID) and roughly when you watched.
Paid plans
Is there a paid version yet?
Not yet. Cove today is free-only, ad-supported — there is no in-app subscription, no card on file, nothing to cancel. Optional paid tiers (ad-free, higher caps, dedicated IPs for small teams) are on the roadmap but not shipping in this version.
If you'd like to be notified when they go live, drop a line to support@covevpn.com with the subject "notify me about paid".
Privacy & security
Do you keep logs?
No URL, DNS, destination or traffic-content logs. The full data list is in the privacy policy — short version: an anonymous device UUID for quota, byte counters, install country, plus the SDKs we ship (AdMob, Adjust, Firebase Crashlytics) operating under their own policies. No name, email, phone, IMEI, or precise location is ever requested.
What protocol does Cove use?
WireGuard, with Curve25519 key exchange and ChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption. We do not support OpenVPN, IKEv2, or proprietary protocols — fewer moving parts to audit, and WireGuard is faster than all of them on mobile.
Does Cove pass IPv6 leaks / DNS leaks?
The VPN service captures all traffic at the OS level via Android's VpnService — IPv4 and IPv6, including DNS — so leaks would have to come from an SDK we ship that opts out of the tunnel. We document exactly which SDK traffic bypasses the tunnel and why in the privacy policy.
How do I request my data or have it deleted?
Email privacy@covevpn.com with your device ID (Settings → About → Device ID in the app). We respond within 30 days, which is GDPR / DPDP / LGPD compliant. CCPA opt-out requests should use the subject line "CCPA opt-out".
Troubleshooting
The VPN won't connect.
Most often this is the OS-level VPN consent. In Android Settings → Network & Internet → VPN, find Cove and re-enable. If that doesn't help, force-stop the app and reopen — Cove will renegotiate keys on next connect. Persistent failures usually mean the upstream node is saturated; try a different country.
I'm getting "quota exceeded" much earlier than expected.
Quota is measured at the VPN node, not the app — so background uploads (photo sync, OS updates, app updates) count too. Open Android Settings → Network & Internet → Internet → tap the gear next to Cove's VPN connection to see real-time usage. If it still looks wrong, email support with your device ID and we'll reconcile.
Netflix / Disney+ is still showing my home region.
Two things to check. First: streaming-grade nodes are only available on Premium Pass (watch three rewarded ads to unlock 24 hours) — free-tier datacenter IPs are blocked by every major streaming service. Second: clear the streaming app's cache (Android Settings → Apps → Netflix → Storage → Clear cache) so it forgets your previous region.
